If you liked The Palace of Dreams try out Kadare’s The File on H, I liked it even more. A fictional retelling of two scholars who go in search of the origins of oral epic poetry to answer the “Homeric question.”
One thing about "writing novels like TV" is that it's so easy... I mean it's not, in that writing and finishing any book, even a bad one, is a hard task and one to be, on some level, admired. But it's straightforward. If your whole novel is in TV script voice, you have far fewer decisions to make. You can put together your outline and then just go through it, scene by scene. And the rules for this style are pretty straightforward, too. You read a few texts on "show don't tell" and other tricks, and again a lot of the creative decisions have been made for you.

That “writing like TV” business— i heard an interview with Nick Mamatas where he gave the impression this problem is an epidemic.
Yes I'm surely not the only one who has noticed.

Thanks for this follow-up post. It helped me understand the point you were making. And pre-ordered your novel!
Thank you!
Hi Lincoln. Have you read António Lobo Antunes. I think ge is a goo example for the things you say in your post
I bought The Inquisitors' Manual this year, but haven't cracked it yet. This is a good reminder to do so though!
Really curious about your log. Could we see a screenshot or a format of it ? Happy new year
