May I add two new exciting names (at least for me) to your list: J.M.G. Le Clezio, Desert, and Marie Ndiaye, Three Strong Women. Translated from French. Staggering novels were written by two French women -writers. Desert is about a young woman who leaves her poor life in a poor project in a desert for a better life in France and returns to the desert. The second novel actually has three stories, and the third one is an unbelievably strong story about an uneducated, unloved, lonely young woman whose only respect for herself lies in remembering her name.
Thank you for paying attention to my comment. I think your readers will find these writers interesting, especially J.M. G. Le Clezio, who got her Nobel Prize, but Ndiaye is a powerful writer, too.
I can't comment on the others (yet), but I will second the praise for Season of the Swamp, which manages to be recognizably Herreran despite every surface element (historical novel using a national hero set in a US city) suggesting it wouldn't be - though I'd also say it seemed to open up new ways to be a Yuri Herrera novel. Really great book.
I've been very, very into short novels recently -- we're launching a book club centered around them -- and I've very thankful to pack my to-read list with some lit in translation. You posted this at a very fortuitous moment for me!
I'll get my library to order your books Lincoln. Note to others: librarians will act on requests. In my case, it helps to be there more than some of them : )
I'm impatiently waiting for Season of the Swamp to arrive! For my own books in translation recs loved Claudia Piñiero's work in particular this year

Love that all these are under 200 pages—it's the perfect recommendation list for me.
Thanks so much. Love this list.
